Bio She was a professional tennis player from Romania.

Mihai was the first player from Romania to reach the final at Roland Garros,when she was the runner-up in two events at the 1977 French Open. She lost in the singles final to Mima Jaušovec in three sets, and partnered with Iván Molina, lost in the mixed doubles final to John McEnroe and Mary Carillo in straight sets.

Together with Virginia Ruzici, Mihai won three consecutive gold medals in the doubles at Summer Universiades in 1977, 1979 and 1981.

Mihai, who had a highest ranking of World No. 23 in singles, reached Roland Garros doubles quarter-finals in doubles in 1976 and 1978.

She won in 1976 alongside Pat Megrado the Barcelona Ladies Open defeating Nathalie Fuchs and Michele Gurdal 6-2 6-4.

Mihai won multiple national champion in the singles, doubles and mixed doubles events (1971-1983).

Florence Mihai has been the non-player captain of the Federation Cup team for about 14 years, including three editions in World Group I and II. He led the Romanian team to the Olympic Games in Barcelona (1992), Atlanta (1996) and Sydney (2000). She was also the coach of some top players such as Irina Spîrlea, former world number 7, Ruxandra Dragomir (former No. 15) and Irina Begu.

In doubles, Mihai often played with Mariana Simionescu, the ex-wife of the Swede Bjorn Borg.

Within the Romanian Tennis Federation, he worked as Secretary General (1984 - 1989), federal coach, specialized advisor and presidential advisor.
