Biography

He was the son of Quincy Adams Shaw and Pauline Shaw. His siblings were Louis Agassiz Shaw; Marian Shaw; Pauline Shaw and Robert Gould Shaw, II.
He graduated with Bachelor of Arts from Harvard in 1891 then he started to work at Calumet & Hecla Mining Company, his first significant position as auditor (1894-1904). Later, he served as second vice president (1904-1910), then as president (1910-1916). Calumet & Hecla Mining Company merged with other companies to form present Calumet & Hecla Consolidated Copper Company where he was the director and since 1929 he was the president of North American Mines, Inc.
He was married to Sarah W. Pemberton on May 12, 1896.
They had 3 children: Quincy Adams Shaw, Jr.; Mrs. L. Carteret Fenno and Mrs. Harry Pratt McKean.
He was the member of Somerset, Tennis and Racquet in Boston.
